Senior Men

About Our Team

Our Senior Men’s side are the pinnacle of our great club and are evidence of the pathway we offer from our junior sides all the way to an elite level.

Welcome to The Basin Bears — where community, grit, and heart rule. Founded in 1946, our club calls Batterham Reserve, Miller Road, The Basin, home, and remains a vibrant and growing force in the Eastern Football Netball League (EFNL). We’re proud to have more than 600 registered players across men’s, women’s, junior football, and netball teams.

The Basin Football Netball Club Senior Men will play in Division 3 of the Eastern Football League in season 2026.

Club Legacy & On-Field Success

  • The Basin has secured four senior premierships (1962, 1985, 1994, 2012).

  • We also have two reserve premierships (2011, 2012) and three under-18/colts flags

  • Over the years, eight players from The Basin have won EFL “best and fairest” awards in various divisions.

Beyond premierships, our history is rooted in community and persistence: The club’s first meeting was in 1946, and by 1948, we’d established Batterham Reserve as our home ground.

Recent Changes & 2026 Outlook

  • After a tough 2024 season in Division 2, the club was relegated to Division 3 for 2025 and 2026.

  • In a strategic shift, Joel Perry has taken on the role of senior coach, moving to a full-time sideline role after previously serving as a player-coach. Joel is assisted by Kristian Bardsley with Rhys Marget appointed as Development Squad Coach.

  • The 2026 season kicks off with renewed optimism and renewed commitment to our pathway: we continue to prioritise junior development, and our senior list remains deeply rooted in local talent.

Community & Volunteer Culture

We’re more than just footy. Whether you want to play, coach, umpire, or volunteer on game day, your contribution matters. From Auskick to seniors, on the field to behind the scenes, we rely on our volunteers – they truly make this club tick
