The Basin Football Club Junior Coaches 2018

Under 9 RED - Shay Terure
2018 is Shay’s second year as head coach of the U9s. Shay had a fantastic inaugural year with the boys, working on skill development and understanding of the game. Shay has formed great relationships with the whole group and his positivity and warmth is contagious. Shay’s ability to prioritise fun amongst the players has this group fully engaged and set for another great year at U9 level.

Under 9 GREEN - Paul Bryant
2018 is also Paul’s second year in charge of this young group. Paul was reluctant to take on the role in 2017 as he has not played footy before, however the boys responded well to his “fun first” style and them importance he places on relationships within the group over all things footy. Paul has been a great role model for the boys and always conducts himself in a positive manner and is loved by the players.

Under 9 WHITE - Shane Cantelmi

U10 - Darren Nicol and Regan Simpson
Darren Nicol and Regan Simpson will again be leading this group of eager Bear cubs. Darren and Regan’s ability to work with each other in a super positive environment has this group up and about. Their dedication to improve themselves as coaches to get the best out of their side is a credit to themselves. Again a “fun first” mentality has these boys super keen and wishing footy went all year round.

U11 - Shaun Hurley
Shaun’s first year as head coach was also in 2017 and he enjoyed the role with this talented group so much he put his hand up again. Shaun is a focused coach who works closely on friendships within the group, skill development, and total football enjoyment. We are looking forward to watching this group develop under his super positive coaching values.

U12 RED - Dean Collins
Our club welcomes Dean and his family to their first season at The Basin FC. Dean has over 20 years of coaching experience at senior and junior level and will be a great asset to our whole U12 age group this season and beyond. Dean has a great knowledge of the game and great experience dealing with all aspects of junior football.

U13 - Mick Porter
Another first year coach in 2017. Mick really enjoyed the role of head coach and his positive approach and attention to detail has the club excited about the development of this team in season 2018. Mick has a great knowledge of the game and his positive style has the boys looking forward to another great season. With some players due back from long term injuries this side will be up and about in no time.

U14 - Matt Smith (Spocky)
Spock has committed to the group for his 3rd year in charge of this impressive group. Spocky’s ability to get the best out of his players is obvious when you watch this side play. Spock has coached them to consecutive preliminary finals and has galvanized the playing group, parents and family members. We are excited about what Spocky and his coaching group can do with this team in 2018.

U15 - Jamey Beggs
Jamey has committed to another year with this group. Jamey is a long serving Basin junior coach who is held in high regard at the club. Jamey has a fantastic knowledge of the game and his ability to get the best out of his players in a positive environment is a credit to him. Jamey’s commitment to development has seen this side rise from B grade to a super competitive A grade side only narrowly missing out on finals in season 2017.

U17 RED - Pat Garrity
Pat is a decorated ex senior player with a long list of achievements. Pat has coached our senior reserves side and will be a fantastic asset to this team and age bracket as a whole. Only recently retired as a player he is the perfect fit for this group. His knowledge of the modern trends in footy and his positive outlook on continuing to develop these young men as players and leaders will be a great experience for our whole U17 group.

U10 GIRLS (Kirsty McConnell)
Kirsty assisted the Under 9 White side in 2017. Her daughter Eliza is now moving to one of our newly formed girls teams and Kirsty has stepped up to the coaching role. We can’t wait to see how the girls go in their first season and Kirsty’s love of the game and passion for female participation in football will hold them in good stead.

U14 GIRLS - Adam Watt
Adam has stepped up from an assistant in 2017 to head coach of our U14 Girls in 2018. Adams has a lot of experience in the game as a player and has been a welcome member to the club willing to help out with this group. His positive attitude and ability to be able to teach and get the best out of the girls in a fun first environment is exactly what the girls need in these early years of their football development.

U18 Girls - Con Halamoutis
Con coached the girls in 2017 and did an outstanding job guiding to the team in their first year. His positive attitude has made this group a team others want to become involved in. Con’s belief in fun, fitness and friendships has the girls of 2017 already wanting to start preseason training again for season 2018. The group will again benefit from Con’s junior coaching experience and his positive mindset regardless of the result.

U17 GREEN - Adam Grant
Adam is another highly decorated junior and senior player at The Basin FC. Adam has had a fantastic playing career at junior and senior level playing with Eastern Rangers, captained North Melbourne school boys teams, South Croydon Division 1 and Basin seniors. Adam has always had a passion to coach and his knowledge for the game along with his positive attitude will be a huge benefit for the boys as they take up the challenge of U17s footy.

U12 GIRLS - Joe Lorusso
Joe helped out our U14 girls as an assistant in season 2017. Joe has great teaching abilities and patience to match. His positive attitude and ability to get the best out of his players was evident at training and on game days. Joe has been involved in footy for many years as a player and volunteer and his development first attitude will benefit the girls as most play their first season of footy.

U12 GREEN - Andrew Webster
